This element starts with a slight squat and bent knees from the abdominal area (left photo) than moved the ball down toward the feet while bending forward at the hips, NOT AT THE WAIST toward the feet (middle photo). The Medicine ball is than lifted up to above and over the head (right photo). The top position is like performing the Over the head extension with dumbbells.

Over head extension exercise.

The amount of over the head extension is based on your flexibility and muscle strength, start light and limit your range of motion until you can or want to increase your flexibility and get efficient at the Medicine Ball Squat Wood Chopper. You do not want to pull a shoulder muscle or dislocate your shoulder.
