The BAJA FITNESS T-Shirt

Open & Close is a kinetic exercise that applies to cardio, aerobics, and strength training

Closed kinetic chain exercises are performed with the hand or foot fixed, such as in a squat or push-up, which involves multiple joints and muscles and is common in daily activities.

Open kinetic chain exercises have a free-moving hand, arms, or foot, like in a bench press, bicep curl or leg extension, and often isolate a single joint and muscle group.

I include strength training with my BAJA Fitness because it is one of the key methods our bodies can continue to produce collagen regardless of our age. When we incorporate weight into our routine training, our muscles produce a natural growth hormone that contains collagen that replaces our cells, particularly our joint and skin cells, at a rapid pace called neocollagenesis or autophagy.

Neocollagenesis process slows down by our mid-30’s then simply stops after age 60 if we don’t include strength training in our workout. Strength training is a significant part of my exercise routine that people are interested in following the BAJA Fitness routine.

Below, I am 68 years old at our hangar. I have been working out using weights since I was 12 years old. I am NOT talking about POWERLIFTING, but simply strength training at least 3 or 4 times a week just using dumbbells. I don’t have a dumbbell weight over 45- LB.
