The effects of hard work, fitness, and everyday adventures we experience sore and tight muscles and joints, especially those of us over the age of 50. Part of those effects that we all deal with daily are muscle strains and pains that are a part of an active lifestyle. A major part of maintaining our healthy and age-defying active lifestyle is healthy diet, being involved in sports and physical work, especially those of us that are retired and have second careers.

I haven’t slowed down at age 68; nor do I have any plans to do so. A major part of my ability to stay active is maintaining my routine workouts that have huge benefits for me. But even with workouts and staying active doesn’t avoid those sharp twinges of strain from an intense workout or the persistent injuries and from overworked joints. I have found some relief from even my lower back issues. In my case it is from my Gluteus Maximus muscle, this is the largest muscle in the human body. In my case, sitting in a cramped cockpit has caused several back issues.

Cramer Atomic Balm has Provided Relief

I still have my first empty jar of Cramer Atomic Balm that I got when I played fullback in high school in 1978. It was effective then and is still effective today.

This is my original 1978 jar of Cramer Atomic Balm from my high school days of playing football.

My go to relief is what I used playing high school football, Cramer Atomic Balm is a time-tested analgesic ointment that’s been a staple of my medicine cabinet since high school. This medium-strength, petrolatum-based formula harnesses the power of oleoresin capsicum and methyl salicylate to deliver targeted relief, promoting a warming sensation that penetrates deep into my muscles and joints. This is especially true before working out in my gym.

I have typically used Cramer Atomic Balm for recovery and warming up for work that I enjoy doing or for my workouts; but I have found another use for my Cramer Atomic Balm, as a pain supplement. I have used it to address a key pain point recently: to relax my tight Gluteus Maximus (or Glute) muscle that has caused stress on the lumbar area of my spine. This stress has caused misalignment to my Lumbar discs (L-1, L-2, and L-3) over the years seated in a cockpit for long hours.

Hip Replacement Effects on the Gluteus Maximus Muscles

After a hip replacement due to a worn-out joint, the new artificial titanium hip placed stress on the glute muscle causing misalignment in my lumbar area where the sciatic nerve exits the spine. This misalignment causes multiple issues, in my case shooting pain down the back of my legs, tight calf muscles, and what is the thorn in my side is numbness in my feet. The numbness has caused balance issues and for a guy that stands on his feet in my welding shop this is a huge issue. Balance issues aren’t compatible with working in aviation, on the farm, in my welding shop, or on the golf course.

Despite my hip and glute issues I have to push myself, because the alternative is not an option, losing your independence and dealing with chronic pain. I’m all too well acquainted with the alternatives, and those aren’t good for someone that has worked 50 odd years to enjoy my life now. For those like me, we have to push boundaries like staying active in the gym, hobbies, and sports. Cramer Atomic Balm isn’t just a remedy; it’s a chance to sustain my active lifestyle.

The Dual Function of Cramer Atomic Balm

Cramer Atomic Balm isn’t just for athletes; but has a dual function as a daily application like any other supplement that we take for our health. Cramer Atomic Balm soothes muscles as part of my therapy for my peak performance during the day and before bedtime. The active ingredients work synergistically—methyl salicylate, a derivative of aspirin, offers anti-inflammatory properties to ease swelling and pain, while oleoresin capsicum provides a gentle heat that dilates blood vessels, enhancing circulation.

This combination makes it ideal for daily topical application, absorbing quickly without greasy residue, and it’s versatile enough for use on various body areas, from calves to glutes, to back and shoulders muscles. Cramer Atomic Balm isn’t just for those occasions when we develop muscle and joint issues, but extend far beyond temporary fixes, for supporting long-term muscle health for my age-defying lifestyle. Relieving Strains and Sprains: Swift Recovery for the Everyday Warrior

In Ephesians, the Apostle Paul talks about putting the whole Armor of God to protect ourselves. I use the same theory using Cramer Atomic Balm for relief from my back issues. It is a ritual for me every morning and night and before hitting my IRONCLAD Gym.

But in my case, my tight Glute muscle was a result of a rare disease called Perthes where the ball of the hip deteriorated over the years starting at childhood then by my mid-40’s the pain is around 9. At age 47, I had a hip replacement to my right hip. Due to the quarter-or-an-inch deterioration of my ball joint, my right glute muscle contracted to maintain a tight hip joint.

The quarter-of-an-inch hip adjustment made with the new hip joint made up for deterioration, but the correction placed a strain to my right Glute muscle that placed stress on my lumbar area. This caused deformation to my spine that was detected in a recent MIR done in August of 2025. As a response to my misalignment to my spine, I opted for physical therapy exercises instead of back surgery. I have had over nine surgeries and number 10 wasn’t at the top of my choices.

Daily Physical Therapy Routine

Below are my series of Realignment Exercises that I am doing. The results have been enormous, but the downside is the flexing that these elements do to a tight glute muscle. But like they state NO PAIN NO GAIN!

I have found in addition to my daily therapy that the Cramer Atomic Balm has provided me with immediate relief. Upon application, the balm’s warming agents kick in, creating a counterirritant effect with deep relief to pain signals while improving blood flow to the injured area.

This increased circulation delivers oxygen and nutrients to strained tissues, especially to my glutes, accelerating the healing process and reducing inflammation. Users often report a noticeable decrease in soreness within minutes, allowing for gentle movement sooner than with rest alone.

This simple ritual allowed me to stay active in the face of my demands of the day because I refuse to slow down and give in.

Beyond personal triumph, the Cramer Atomic Balm’s efficacy ties to its formulation. Oleoresin capsicum stimulates endorphin release, the body’s natural painkillers, fostering a sense of relaxation that rivals massage therapy.

Regular use, as in my case, builds cumulative benefits:

For best results, continued application of Cramer Atomic Balm, like any supplement we take for our health, provides best results for muscle recovery and more resiliently, while reducing future tightness. It’s particularly beneficial for those of us over the age of 50. By integrating strength training with Cramer Atomic Balm has assisted me in my recovery. The combination of diet, working out with weights can sculpt firm physiques—dropping weight and inches.

This was taken in April of 2025 as a promotional for our Memorial Day Classic Car & Airshow that we held at our hangar. I am 68 years old in this photoshoot taken with one of my models, Tiffany in her mid-20’s.

Welders and aviators, like me for instance, credits daily application of Cramer Atomic Balm to enable me to model confidently as part of my business. I want to avoid stagnation and Cramer Atomic Balm provides me with that ability. But even at rest, I can redefine relaxation as active restoration, turning sore evenings at bedtime into refreshed mornings, with limited stiffness. If you are over the age of 50, you are all too aware of stiff muscles and joints rolling out of bed; Cramer Atomic Balm at night can reduce this morning stiffness.

Warming Up Muscles: Priming for Performance and Injury Prevention

Preparation is the unsung hero of fitness and labor-intensive work. Cold muscles are prone to injury—up to 30% of strains stem from inadequate warm-ups, per sports medicine experts. Dynamic stretching even with yoga alone isn’t always enough; enter topical aids like Cramer Atomic Balm, which supercharge the flexing process. Applied before working out in the gym, the balm’s heat mimics elevated body temperature, increasing muscle elasticity, blood flow, and joint lubrication.

If you want to have age-defying skin, apply Cramer Atomic Balm to key muscles like calves, glutes, and back muscles and see increased blood flow. Strength training allows your muscles to release a natural growth hormone that contains collagen into the bloodstream.

You increase the blood flow in the body with the aid of Cramer Atomic Balm, you increase the replacement of skin cells. This is better than any skin treatment you can get at a spa that you do in a gym. All that you are doing is pumping Iron to pump blood flow.

This proactive use of Cramer Atomic Balm underscores the role it has in longevity: by fostering consistent activity, it supports metabolic health, bone density, healthy looking skin, and mental sharpness. From quelling strains and sprains to unwinding tight muscles and igniting warm-ups, Cramer Atomic Balm multifaceted benefits empower me to conquer discomfort. As I am active in aviation, welding, agriculture, and playing sports at 68, it’s the edge that I need to remain active.
