The Importance of Reading and Writing for our Mental Health

I am a big believer in reading books and research papers and writing narratives of what I read. My articles that I write focus mainly on nutrition and physical activities to improve and maintain our physical health; but just as essential is writing and reading to maintain our mental (cognitive) health.

I spend a lot of time doing research for my articles that I write covering various health and fitness subjects. One subject I enjoy researching is the historical accounts of the Bible. I feel like Indiana Jones on one of his expeditions that drew millions of people to flock to theaters to watch Steven Spielberg movies.

The Arab and Israeli Bound

From my research, if you read the Old Testament, one can’t to read and discover the Arab and Israel have an ancestry bound. This is why the Old Testament is just as essential as the New Testament of people of faith. Just to make an important point, Jesus Christ during his three-year mission on earth, only had the Old Testament to refer to, what us Jews call Tanakh- the Torah, Nevi’im, and Ketuvim.

(I am a Messianic Jew, a Jew that believes that Jesus Christ was the Messiah.)

Joshua and Caleb are two characters in the Old Testament that exhibited their faith that led Israel into the Promised Land after 430 years of bondage in Egypt and after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness for their unfaithfulness. The 40 years of wondering was due to Israel’s lack of faith except for Joshua and Caleb great persons of faith and action.

Joshua and Caleb were the only two allowed to enter the Promised Land. Moses wasn’t allowed to enter the Promised Land not only because Moses struck the Rock of Massah and Meribah; but because Moses and rest of Israel, 20 years or older, that cited with the ten spies that rejected Joshua and Caleb that favored to enter the Promised Land.

Refer to Numbers 14:30-32 God declared that “not one of those who have disbelieved shall enter the land I swore to give you, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.” This was the exception to the judgment that condemned the entire generation of Israelites who had rebelled against God’s promise to give them Canaan. Moses didn’t strike the Rock of Massah and Meribah until Numbers 20: 10-13 after Israel started the 40 year of wondering in the wilderness. You got to hand it to Joshua and Caleb for tolerating a generation of complete losers!

My Book: Joshua’s Gauntlet of Divine Providence

My book: Joshua’s Gauntlet of Divine Providence

Joshua’s Gauntlet of Divine Providence is a Cliffs Notes-type narrative of the Bible that is great for those studying the Bible for the first time or for those that have studied the Bible for decades. Joshua’s Gauntlet of Divine Providence uncovers the rich history of the Bible from when God called Abraham from Mesopotamia, which is in the region of modern-day southern Iraq to settle in the land of Canaan now the modern-day Israel.

If you are a part of Generation X or Z, and like to learn and have more insight of the Bible, this would be a great method to walk your way through the Bible as if Indiana Jones was writing about one of his geological expeditions. This would be like you were reading about Indiana Jones search for the Ark of the Covenant or you being a part of the historical journey of Joshua and Caleb’s conquest of Canaan. If a producer ever wanted a Steven Spielberg and George Lucas type Indianan Jones blockbuster, Joshua and Caleb’s conquest of Canaan would be it. The script it already written.

Israelites didn’t Conquer the Promise Land because of their Righteousness

What is interesting about Joshua’s Gauntlet of Divine Providence is that Israelites didn’t conquer the Promised Land because of their righteousness; but because of the wickedness of the inhabitants of the land of Canaan living there during this time period. In Deuteronomy 9:5- It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the LORD your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

This is the type of background Joshua’s Gauntlet of Divine Providence provides the reader. It will take the reader through the Exiles of Israel to first Syria, the Babylonian Empire, then to Iran, the Persian Empire and to Queen Esther story. This includes the history of the Knights Templar and the Crusades influence, and history of the Ottoman Empire control of Palestine.

Joshua’s Gauntlet of Divine Providence covers the White Paper that led to Jews returning to Palestine, and how both World War I and II played a major roles in the formation of the state of Israel as prophesied by Amos in Amos 9:14-15 And I will bring my people Israel back from exile. “They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,” This was accomplished on May 14, 1948.

The very next day of the establishment of Israel, on May 15, 1948, Israel had to fight a war on three fronts that lasted until June of 1948. But what is hard to understand is that Abraham and Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob all had ties to Arab nations to the extent that Arab women played a vital role in the lineage of King David and of Jesus Christ. This premise led to the Abraham Accords. Arab nations and Israel are bound by their ancestry.
